Widmore Road, Bickley, c. 1920
Built from 1908 on the site of the Widmore Nursery, by this time the area had become sufficiently residential to justify a selection of small shops, saving the trip into the town centre.
Contemporary with another parade on the corner of Shawfield Park, early traders included a butcher, a greengrocer and a boot maker.
Both parades remain today still fulfilling their original function.
